GRANT INFORMATION

Thank you for your interest in applying for a Michigan Baseball  Foundation (MBF) grant. The Michigan Baseball Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit charity, which was formed in 2006 to create regional economic development and to enhance the efforts of regional organizations that serve young people through creative partnerships and grants. The Michigan Baseball Foundation owns and operates Dow Diamond, home of the Great Lakes Loons, a Class A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The grant application and guidelines for submission are attached.

The Grants Committee of the Michigan Baseball Foundation Board will review all grant applications and will respond to all applications. The deadline for submitting the completed application and supporting documentation is February 15, 2022. Grant recipients will be notified by the end of April 2022. Recipients will be required to update the Michigan Baseball Foundation Board on the success of the project for which the grant was used.

The decision to fund an organization’s project will be determined in part by whether one or more of the following guidelines are met. These guidelines reflect the purposes for which the Michigan Baseball Foundation has been organized:

-The organization contributes to regional economic development by expanding employment opportunities and promoting the general welfare of the area

-The organization is based in the Mid-Michigan area and serves young people

-The project promotes amateur sports and fitness

The Michigan Baseball Foundation will consider funding Mid-Michigan non-profit organizations that use grant money to fund projects; the grants are not intended to fund day-to-day operations or programs. Primary consideration will be given to organizations in the Midland, Bay, Saginaw, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Genesee, Isabella, Tuscola, Huron, Arenac, Ogemaw, Sanilac and Iosco counties. Strong consideration will also be given to organizations that have:

-A practical financial development plan either in place or under way

-A strong infrastructure and solid operational plan or strategy in place or under development

-Dynamic leadership both at the management level and on the governing board(s)

-Strategic alliances with other public and private agencies, businesses and individuals

-A system for evaluating and developing their programs, management and staff to keep the organization viable and effective

Thanks again for your interest. We look forward to receiving your application and supporting documentation by our deadline date of February 15, 2022.

Sincerely,

William S. Stavropoulos
